A Birthday card this time.

Hi again, we've certainly had a run of birthdays, weddings etc lately so today I made a card for one of our friends who turns 75 tomorrow. We have just come home from her celebratory dinner. A nice meal and caught up with some of her family. Her DIL is a girl I used to know when I was a teenager. Her family went to the same church as mine back then. Her sister Lynne and I were the same age and used to hang around at church events together.
Hubby and sons are home, they came back just before lunchtime today and were here when I got back from craft. I had little Isaac with me, he was still very sleepy after dropping off at craft in the pusher. One of hubby's ex work mates has come to visit from interstate and is staying with us for a couple of days. The bike trip went reasonably well with only one problem to one of the bikes on the way back. A coolant leak, and they had to end up getting some minor repairs to it done.
It's been a long day, so will get on and share the photo I hurriedly took of the finished card.

It hasn't come out as clear as I had hoped and I've already given her the card.

This is the inside taken flat on an angle.

This one of the inside  is taken more face on.
Recipe:
Blue card from stash
DP from Kaisercraft 6x6 Paper Pad ~ Utopia Collection
Sentiment stamp from Kanban stamp set - The Cavendish Ladies ~ Day at the Races
Butterfly stamp from Kaisercraft - I stamped directly onto card in black then did two blue images on white card and cut them out. One flat over the black one and then the next one put on with a couple of bits of foam in strategic spots to lift the sides of the wings.
Flourish is from the butterfly set above
SU Pacific Point inkpad
Alphabet die
Script embossing folder

Wedding card for Phillip and Lisa

Hi, it's been hot today. Fran and I went off to Shirley's for our weekly craft get together and made another 3 cards. I meant to call into the craft shop on the way home but forgot, so will have to go tomorrow.
I went to my nephew's wedding on Sunday afternoon - it was outdoors in a park with a celebrant. It went very well with the couple doing their own vows which had people very emotional. They had pics with family and friends before going off to have some on their own. The reception was at one of the city's hotels and was a casual affair as well with finger foods.
I posted my MIM DT card yesterday, so I am sharing the wedding card today. I wrote on the inside before I scanned it so won't share that bit!!!
Here it is:
Sorry the white card didn't show well in the scans so I've put a bit of dark coloured paper behind it so you can see the sides of the card.
I embossed the top panel inside and out with a small heart embossing folder.

This is an edited post showing a picture taken with my camera.  This was taken sitting on the little drawer of my hall stand.
 Recipe:
SU Whisper White cardstock
Whisper White for the heart embossed panels
Martha Stewart border punch for the Left Hand edge
Nestie Die - Deckled Ovals
Magnolia Stamp
Copic Markers
Sentiment is SU (I think, will have to check later)

Thanks for stopping by,

Sandy

A Quick Vintage Christmas card

Hubby and our 3 sons were all here early and left slightly later than they planned but I've heard from them and they made it to Melbourne without any problems except for rain. Adrian said he was pretty cold though!!!
I have the two youngest grandchildren today and they are also staying overnight with me and are both sound asleep tucked up in our bed. I told Layla to choose a book for me to read and she wanted to know when Papa was coming because he normally reads to them. She was disappointed that he wasn't going to be here and told me he was taking too long to come home!!! She chose a book about a postman and every couple of pages is a big envelope and a letter that he is delivering. They come out and you can read them. e.g. a postcard to the giant from Jack, a lawyer's letter to the wolf wearing "grandma's " clothing without permission, an apology letter from Goldilocks to the Three Bears etc. She enjoys getting the letters out.
I've been working on DT cards and also helping Layla make another card, she is really keen to make one when she is here.
So the card I am sharing is a quick one using paper and a couple of diecuts. No stamping at all.  I haven't done the inside yet, so may stamp a verse on the inside when I get around to it.
Well here it is.......

Recipe:
Maroon cardstock from stash for the basecard (topfold)
DP is from Kaisercraft 6x6 paper pad ~ Dear Santa Collection
Image and sentiment are both from a vintage Christmas diecut packet also from Kaisercraft

Thanks for stopping by today, I managed to do a small amount of commenting this morning before the kids arrived, LOL I woke up early when hubby got up and then thought I might as well get up and say goodbye to them

Take Care and have a great weekend,
Sandy

A Flower for your Birthday

Well, after all the hassles, Jason's bike is going and hubby and the three boys are all heading off at 6 a.m. tomorrow morning for their trip to Phillip Island to watch the motor bike race over the weekend. It has been a very stressful few days and Adrian thought he would take the car and let Jason use his bike if he couldn't get his up and running properly. I do hope they will be careful as it's a long trip from here to Melbourne, about 8 hours, not including stops for fuel etc.
I babysat today, not my normal day, so little Isaac came to craft with me this afternoon. He had some lunch and then happily dropped off to sleep in the pusher. He really is a dream to take out with me. Here at home he is a real explorer and is starting to get into things. I went to the bathroom and came out and he had disappeared. He had toddled the length of the house and was in our bedroom picking up the bathroom scales!!!
I showed the "girls" at craft how to make the telescoping circle card (the snowman) that I shared earlier this week. They enjoyed making it.
Some of the family came for the evening meal, but because it was a bit later than normal, I had to skip it and go to choir practice. I had a very late meal when I came home.
So.... onto my card for today.

Bugaboo Elf - Twisted Circular Easel Card

It's windy outside and the sky has been promising rain but so far it's held off. I can hear things rattling around outside. Our eldest son was over after work trying to get his motorbike back together. He was going to ride it home, but it kept stalling, so.... back in the shed it went. Hopefully he will get it going tomorrow as they are all off on their big ride early Friday morning.
I ended up with a huge headache late morning and I still had the remnants of it until about 8 - 9 p.m., Glad it's gone now but they always leave me feeling drained.
Well, as usual it's late so I will get on and share my card for today.
I decided to make a twisted circular Easel card,  Shirley shared one with us a couple of weeks ago. Mine is folded slightly different to the one I made with Shirley, so sits slightly differently when open.

Photo of open card, sorry pic not very good

card closed - this one's a scan and the colours are better than the photo. (LOL, I got it crooked too!!!)

Baby Dresser Card - MIM #112

Linky Party Time again over at Make It Monday and it's no #112. Hope you are going to join us this time around. I enjoyed last week's entries, lots and lots of wonderful creations to drool over too!!!
Congrats to this week's featured artist  Pinky  and also to  Pia  for the winning comment.
This could be you, so get those entries in and check out the other blogs and leave a comment. The more blogs you visit, the more chances you have at being the winning commenter.
My card for the DT this week was made using  a YouTube tutorial to make this cute baby dresser side step card and you can see it here.
I've used a pre-coloured image from Cupcake Cards & Crafts to decorate my card.

Front of card

Inside of card - It's a bit of an odd space because of the two folds and the cut through the top section, but it gives you somewhere to write other than on the back of the card.
I followed the tutorial for folding and it does not give a crisp crease in the card. I think next time I would measure it and then score it properly to avoid the uneven look it created. In real life it looks okay but here in the scan I think it looks worse.....

Recipe:
SU Pink Pirouette cardstock to make the side step card.
SU Pink Passion inkpad for all the distressed edges
DP was a scrap from my bits and pieces pile!!! - I'm not sure, but it could have been from SU
Nestalbilities die - Labels Four - I cut the diecut and then it wouldn't quite fit where I wanted it, so.... it got the chop on each side and I followed that through on the inside diecut as well
The image is from Cupcake Cards & Crafts and is called - Little Bears ~ a set of 6 pre-coloured images
The little feet are stickers from my stash (at least 5 years old!)- I stuck them onto some scrap card and fussy cut around each one and then mounted up with foam dots.
Decorative Border punch - not sure where I got this one, it says APEX on the side
Decorative label punch - used half only to form the bottom of the dresser.
Brads from stash
Sentiment is from Paper Salon

I am entering this into the following challenges:
Little Claire's Designs - Monthly Challenge #26 ~ New Arrivals
One Stop Craft Challenge - Challenge 201 ~ Anything Goes
The Poodles Parlour - Anything Goes
Card Mania Challenges - CMC#6 ~ Oh, Baby.....

Our sponsor this week is Cupcake Cards & Crafts, so pop over and check out their store and see all the fab digital papers and the cute pre-coloured images too!

Let's Party

Saturday night here after a quiet morning with a couple of the boys dropping in - still getting their bikes and gear ready for their trip away. The craft group I go to on Saturdays has been off for several weeks and I've had some things on as well so it's been at least a month since I went. Today we got together, there were only 3 of us, it's usually a full house with 8 of us sitting around the table. So... we had an impromptu card lesson in between getting some beading done. I took a double slider card that holds a chocolate bar. The only problem was it needed to be tweaked as we don't have the American chocolate bar that was used in the video and that made a difference to the width of the sides. I'd played around with mine at home but then took the measurements off the video and they just didn't work. Anyway the girls got the idea and it gives me a bit of time to play a bit more and get it right and then share it with the whole group.
Hubby wasn't home when I got back, so I did a bit of commenting for DT commitments and then made him something to eat when he finally got here. He'd been to our daughter's cutting the grass for her. He did do ours before he left!!!
Anyway, I did sit down to make a card tonight, I skipped last night as I was tired and couldn't think of anything to make.
Here's the pic...

Front of card

Inside of card - sorry I scanned it a bit crooked

Recipe:
SU Night of Navy for basecard
Darker brown DP is from DCWV  Adhesive Paper Prints
Light Brown paper is from Kaisercraft 61/2 paper pad called "Blae & Ivy"
Sorry I stamped the image a while ago and not sure who this stamp is from. In fact I'm not sure where I put this stamp set!!!  Something else to search for, LOL.
Sentiment is from See-D's set of stamps

Bathing Beauties

Welcome to 3 new followers, Sauyma, Eileen and Sari, nice to meet you.
I didn't get much done today, I slept in for about 30 mins and then decided to do some commenting for Make It Monday, ring my Mum, have a late shower and get dressed finally!!! A friend rang and asked if I was going up to the shops, which I usually do around lunchtime to get afternoon tea for the craft group and also some lunch to take with me. I met her up there a bit earlier than usual and we had lunch together before I had to rush back home to pick up my craft things.  I realised I was going to teach a couple of the girls how to make the chocolate ribbon slider box and then I had to race around finding bits and pieces for that.
We had a good afternoon, Jane made a couple of boxes and Joyce did one as well.  I played around and adjusted the size of the card and where the score lines went to make another box to fit a smaller block of chocolate.
We had tea out with friends and then I thought I had choir practise. I decided to pop back home before going just to check the choir roster and saw that he had changed tonight and make it next week instead. I'm glad I didn't drive into town first. I hate it when I drive in and see there are no cars in the back of the church.  It's not too far to go but still a waste of time and fuel. Hubby had gone to the hotel straight from work, so he had his car and I think called in to see our son because he thought I was out too. It didn't matter because I did some more commenting and got caught up with all the entries.
I watched a bit of tv and thought about what I wanted to make tonight.
Here is what I came up with!!!

Inside of Card
Recipe:
Brown Cardstock from stash for the cardbase

A Bird in Autumn

Hello again, just heading off to bed but getting this post done quickly.
The snowman card from last night's post went well at class today and in the end only had two ladies making it. Another lady was on kitchen duty and the other is going into hospital shortly and had things to organise beforehand. She is the craft co-ordinator and she was a bit stressed out.
The boys and hubby have all been out in the shed mucking around getting bikes ready. One is in pieces after being painted, another was also being worked on and the third one had been tweaked as well and maybe a new battery. They are off at the end of the month to go to Phillip Island to watch the motorbike race, It's a fair distance to travel and I think they are going to Melbourne for a night on the way.
So... I've made a card tonight, sometimes I just sit there and wonder what to make. I decided to look for some challenges first and make a card to suit!!!
Here is what I came up with......

Front of card - the image I used has a distressed look to it, not a clean crisp image

Snowman Telescoping Circle Card

Hello everyone, it's been a busy time post wise the last couple of days. Thanks for all the get well wishes, my shoulder/back is nearly 100%. Still a couple of twinges and I'm still trying to be careful what I do!!!
I went to craft with Shirley this morning and as usual she treated us to 3 fabulous cards to make. After having lunch on the way home with my friend, Fran, I got stuck into a little bit of housework, cooked tea for hubby and headed out again for Choir practise. I wasn't going to post tonight, but I'm teaching tomorrow and wanted to make up this card to teach the group in the morning so thought I might as well share it.  I created it using a You-Tube video, there a couple of snowmen ones and a few stamped ones as well.  This is my second one, I made a stamped one several months ago and had the snowman one on the back burner.
Well here it is......

Closed card - both pics scanned with white paper behind them.

Open card - I scanned this 6 times and each time I closed the lid it moved so the bottom writing looks crooked!!!  Really, believe me..........it's not truly, LOL

I am entering this into the following challenges:
(have to look for some tomorrow)

Well thanks for stopping by, I have to get up early and organise which Christmas stamps etc to take and pack my Cuttlebug so they can do their own cutting and embossing.

Happy Howl-oween over at Gingerloft Challenges

Hi everyone, a second post for today!!! Not like me, but Gingerloft's new challenge is starting and the theme this fortnight is Halloween or Fall. Hope you will join us in the challenge this time around and don't forget to stop by the Design Team blogs and maybe leave them a comment.
I'm an Aussie and we are not into Halloween in a big way, and personally my family don't celebrate it but I did really like this fab wolf image available from Gingerloft digi stamps and will probably turn it into a normal birthday card later on by switching the sentiment. It would make a great card for a male and was so easy to colour up.
I hope you like it and it encourages you to join in with the challenge.

Here is what I did...... I added a piece of white paper behind the card to scan as it kept cutting the scalloped edge off the top for some reason.

Front of card - top fold with the image sitting partially over the fold.

Inside of card
Recipe:
Black cardstock for the basecard from stash
Orange cardstock from stash
DP is from Kaisercraft - 6 1/2 x 6 1/2 paper pad called 13th hour
Sentiment and image are both from Gingerloft digi stamps

Nestie dies - Scalloped Circle, large circle and large labels

I am entering this into the following challenges:
Dream Valley Challenges - Challenge 43 ~ Halloween
No Matter Which Challenges - Challenge #3 ~ Halloween Creations or Use  Halloween Colours
Card Making Mamas - Challenge ~ Halloween or Spooky
Polka Doodles - Week 41 ~ Halloween

Well that's it for me tonight, come on get those creative juices moving and join in the challenge. Hope to see you there!!!

60th Birthday card for Kim

Hi everyone, I woke up Friday morning in a bit of pain and by the end of the day it was full blown. I must have pulled a muscle in my back/shoulder and it has not been much fun at all for the last couple of days. Just getting into bed was not good and trying to find a spot to be comfortable was just not happening. I didn't go to craft on Saturday but we had our friend Kim's 60th birthday party last night. It was an outdoor affair and it got pretty cold!!! Our youngest daughter gave my back and arm a massage a couple of times and said it was quite inflamed. That must have helped quite a bit. I left hubby at the party and Rachel and her boyfriend dropped me home, I took a couple of painkillers and headed off to bed.  I am much better this morning but am still being pretty careful. The drive in to church was a bit painful when hubby braked and also when he took off too. Hopefully it should be better by tomorrow as I have the two grandchildren again
I made Kim a card which I was going to share yesterday but didn't feel up to sitting in front of the computer to post and scan the card.
Here it is.........

Recipe:

Christmas Blessings

The weather was still cold today, I spent the morning at the doctor's to have my blood sugar level 3 month blood test done, some shopping on the way home and then did the dishes. Grabbed some lunch for myself and our youngest son who has been off work with a very bad bruised and swollen leg from kickback when working on a motorcycle. Then I packed my craft gear and tried to dodge the rain to get it into the car without getting it soaking wet and headed off to my friend Jane's house for craft. Only three of us today and Jane had a cold - I didn't get a lot done as we chatted a bit because we've not seen each other for a couple of weeks due to holidays.
We went out to tea at a different venue from normal and asked friends to join us. We finished our meal and they got a call from their youngest son asking where they were as he and his fiancee were taking them out for Kim's 60th birthday (party on the weekend) and Fran had forgotten and not told Kim either. So we all left and they went out for another meal, not sure what they were going to eat, LOL, maybe just dessert!!!
We were already pretty full from our meal and I know I couldn't have eaten another thing.
I've made a CAS card tonight so here it is:

Recipe:
Black cardstock for the basecard
Grey cardstock for the matte behind the image
Silver metallic thread for the border

Chocolate Slider Box for Christmas

Well, school holidays are finished and that means craft groups have resumed. I had 4 people on my table today instead of the usual 1 or 2. This term I have some planned lessons doing a few cards and gifts for Christmas pressies.
Today I showed my group how to make a chocolate slider box. I had to pick up my grandson before craft, so we stopped into the shop on the way to buy blocks of chocolate. I wasn't sure how many people I was going to have this term so I told them a couple of weeks ago that I would organise the bits and pieces for the first week and then I could tell them what we were doing the following week so they could bring supplies. We had a few problems initially because the instructions I used were not the same as my sample and we had to cut it twice before getting it big enough to fit the chocolate. Anyway they all went away happy with what they had made.
I came home and made another one so I can write down the instructions for them to keep. I had to change it to inches so it would work with the score board because when I worked out  the new metric measurements, I found I couldn't line them up on the score-board and all of us are old enough to be more familiar with inches anyway, LOL.
Tonight, I've been working on one of my DT cards as well and now only have one more to do for next weeks posts.
The weather here is wild and wooly, we even had some hail tonight and the wind is really whistling around the house.
So onto my chocolate slider.....

I've pulled the chocolate out a little bit so you can see how it works. You just pull up with the ribbon and the chocolate comes up out of the box.  I thought I might make a few of these to give to a couple of friends at Christmas time. With that in mind I used a Christmas sentiment and image to decorate the front.

 Recipe:
Textured cardstock from DCWV
Christmas DP is a scrap from stash
Image is from SU  Tidings of Joy

Sunday is just about finished and I managed to get a bit of blogging done today. We started daylight saving here in South Australia and luckily the phone changes time automatically and the alarm went off at the right time so I wasn't late for church!!!
I stopped on the way home and grabbed a few groceries for the next few days. Hubby was home when I got in and we had some lunch.
A quiet night at home and I got to watch the Mentalist and then sat down to make a card for today's post.

Vintage Birds

No craft again this Saturday, so I had a quiet day at home. My Mum gave me a little DVD player that plays the discs that my machine won't, some that come from America and England and are a different format. She had given me some films a little while ago and I decided to watch them and they didn't work in my player so I plugged the other one in and sat down and watched one film.
I also made a card for a guest designer spot that is coming up -  Hubby worked all day and got home about 5.30 p.m. and now he's decided that he is going to take some car and bike parts to a swap meet tomorrow and has packed them into the truck and headed off tonight taking his swag with him!!! It's freezing here tonight so I hope he sleeps inside the truck!!!
Well, I hope your weekend is going well and  you are getting the things done that you need to and also get some time for yourself.

Top Bloke

Well, the rain has finally come, it sounds gentle against our corrugated iron roof and it's very late here. Oops, I can now hear a bit of thunder, so maybe there will be more rain!  It has been a reasonable day although overcast. I had the grandchildren here today, last of the school holidays!!!
My Mum popped in for a short while and then we had lunch and I put Isaac down for a sleep. I wanted to take the kids to see Madagascar 3 so we let Isaac have a couple of hours sleep and then went to a late afternoon session and got back home about 6:15 p.m. They stayed for tea and then our DIL picked them up after 9 p.m to go home as they have a birthday party to go to in the morning.
I've been fiddling around on the computer and trying to work out what I wanted to make today. I decided on a card for a male.
